Nestled in Little Cottonwood Canyon in the heart of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, one mile down the canyon from Alta, Snowbird is home to 2,500 acres of skier and rider accessible terrain. Averaging 500 inches of The Greatest Snow on Earth®, Snowbird’s base elevation sits at 8,100 feet while the Tram docks at 11,000 feet. Described by skier and riders as an intermediate to advanced mountain, Snowbird hosts 27% beginner terrain, 38% intermediate terrain and 35% advanced to expert terrain.
One Aerial tram, six high-speed detachable quads, four doubles, and one conveyor lift service the 85 on-piste runs. With Salt Lake City International Airport being located 29 miles away, it’s a skier and rider reality to fly in and play in the same day.
As a full-service resort, Snowbird focuses on both recreation and relaxation. Luxurious suites, outdoor heated pools (even during the winter), spa services, and ski-in/out lodging characterize just a few of Snowbird's amenities. A number of diverse restaurants, festivals, and retail opportunities give guests a full mountain community experience. Exciting mountain biking and hiking trails are among the popular summer activities available at Snowbird.
Snowbird is just 30 miles from Salt Lake International Airport.
Snowbird offers a 125-passenger Aerial Tram that zooms from an elevation of 8,100 feet to 11,000 feet in about 8 minutes, taking skiers to Hidden Peak and the infamous 21/2 mile Chip's Run. Along the way, skiers are transported into a fanciful world of spectacular scenery, amazing powder and superb customer service.
Snowbird currently has 10 chairlifts (6 high-speed quads, 4 doubles), a surface lift, an aerial tram, and a 600-foot (180 m) tunnel enclosing a one-way conveyor lift connecting Peruvian Gulch to Mineral Basin allowing easier access for beginners and intermediates to new terrain. The tunnel, the first of its kind in North America, also allows for skier transport when winds require the closing of the aerial tram. New in the 2013–14 season is the Gad 2 High Speed Quad, replacing the double that followed the same lift line.
The Little Cottonwood Canyon resort has a total of four lodges, including the Iron Blossom, the Inn, the Lodge at Snowbird, and the Cliff Lodge. The resort also has many gift shops, restaurants, arcades, a popular fine-dining Sunday brunch, hiking trails, several pools and a full-service rooftop spa.
