MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN CALIFORNIA SKI FACTS

Mammoth Mountain is located in Mammoth Lakes, California. The mountain is currently open: 100% of the slopes are open, 27 out of 28 lifts are operating, and the base of the mountain has built up 46 inches of snow.

With 3500 skiable acres, Mammoth Mountain is one of the largest ski resorts - it is the eighth largest in the United States. Despite more lifts than average, the lift infrastructure struggles to cover the entire mountain. On crowded days you may run into lift lines.

Mammoth is a great mountain. It is huge and has plenty of varied terrain so any type of skier or boarder can find something they like. As an advanced skier, I love the bowls off the top (Dave's and Climax are my favs) and the shoots off of 22. Chair 3 and 5 have great mogul runs - the bumps are usually soft and not too large. Dry creek off of Chair 5 is probably my favorite bump run ever. Mammoth has a huge terrain park - with plenty of jumps way to large for me to ever try, and a few just small enough for me to catch some air on.

At $107 for an adult, lift tickets are more expensive here than the average resort. However, Mammoth Mountain is a good value - you get plenty of skiable acres for your dollar.

Mammoth has 3,500 acres of skiable land, which is 3,362 acres more than the average ski resort. The mountain has a vertical well above Trail Breakdown
Mammoth Mountain has a total of 151 trails, which is 136 trails more than the average ski resort. Its longest run is 3 miles- that would take you about 12 minutes to ski down!

Terrain Parks
For those looking to work on their jumping, rail slides, and other tricks, Mammoth Mountain has 8 terrain parks. Of those terrain parks, 6 are currently open, and they were last re-shaped on March 25, 2014. The mountain also has 3 halfpipes, 2 of which are currently open. The halfpipes were last re-cut on March 25, 2014.average, measuring in at 3,100 feet base to peak.

For a day trip at Mammoth Mountain, an adult lift ticket will cost about $107, making it one of the most expensive ski resorts in the United States. Day passes for children and seniors cost less than an adult's, but still cost more than children or seniors would pay at the average resort. Keep in mind this is the peak lift ticket pricing - tickets could be cheaper during less busy and less important days (e.g. non-holiday, mid-week).

An adult can get a season pass for $799, which is 63% more expensive than the average season pass in the United States. Like day passes, season passes for children and seniors cost less than an adult's. A season pass will give you access to the mountain for the entire season. Depending on how many days you plan on skiing, a season pass could be a good deal or not. An adult will have to ski at least 7 days to make a season pass worth it. A child will want to ski at least 7 days and a senior will want to ski at least 5 days.
